Would you like to lose some hips to enhance your waistline and harmonize your figure? Have dieting and sport not helped you to lose weight as you would have liked?
Hip liposuction is a fast, effective solution for permanently removing excess fat from the hips.
What is hip liposuction?

Hip liposuction, also known as waist liposuction, is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to remove excess fat cells from the flanks and love handles by suction. It permanently removes unsightly bulges above the hips in both men and women.
To harmonize the figure as naturally as possible, your surgeon will suggest liposuction of the thighs and/or saddlebags if necessary.
Which liposuction technique is used for the hips?

To help his patients lose hips, Dr Delobaux uses the VASER HD liposuction technique combined with RENUVION skin retraction technology.
VASER HD liposuction is an innovative technique that uses ultrasound to liquefy fat. This facilitates the extraction of fat cells, making the procedure less painful and reducing bruising and irregularities. The result is also more aesthetically pleasing, as the fat is removed more homogeneously.
RENUVION technology uses plasma energy and radiofrequency to tighten the skin. Thanks to this minimally invasive skin retraction technique, your skin is tightened to the new contours of your body as soon as you leave the clinic.
What are the steps before hip liposuction?
Two consultations are required before the procedure: one with the plastic surgeon, the other with the anesthetist.
Before the operation, your plastic surgeon will analyze your hips, as well as the quality of your skin. He will also carry out a medical check-up to ensure that you can benefit from hip liposuction. Finally, this first interview will give you the opportunity to explain your expectations and needs, and to ask any questions you may have.
What is the procedure for hip liposuction?
Conventional liposuction of the hips is performed under general anaesthetic (depending on the volume of fat removed and the associated areas) or local anaesthetic (minimal volume of fat removed).
It takes 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the amount of fat to be removed, and is performed as follows:
- The surgeon defines the areas to be aspirated using a surgical felt-tip pen.
- The patient is placed under anesthesia.
- The surgeon injects a solution that facilitates fat suction and limits pain and bleeding.
- He then applies the VASER HD technique, i.e. the application of light ultrasound to liquefy localized fat around the hips.
- The surgeon makes very fine incisions (2 to 4 mm) in the natural folds of the waistline, through which micro-cannulas are inserted. Several incisions are required to create intersecting trabeculae to achieve a homogeneous result.
- He then sucks out the fat cells using slow, gentle back-and-forth movements.
- Finally, he closes the incisions with absorbable thread and covers them with a dressing before placing a support panty.
What are the post-liposuction after-effects?
The length of hospital stay varies according to two criteria: the type of anesthesia and the amount of fat removed. Hip liposuction patients spend an average of half a day in the clinic.
You will wear an abdominal support girdle (panty) as soon as you leave the operating room. It must be worn permanently for 45 to 60 days. This support garment is designed to limit edema and bruising following the operation. It also helps the skin to readapt to the new body contours as quickly as possible.
